medianet GAMES International Introduces ByteRockers’ Games

"MGIT Introduces" returns for 2025 and presents you the next exciting games company: Founded in 2008, developer studio ByteRockers' Games works to fullfill their mission of creating games like never before. With the vision of making each project something truly unique, the ByteRockers' team places no limits on themselves or their imagination. By combining this with the best possible working conditions, they aim to continuously set new standards for innovation and creativity in the games industry.

In a Zoom talk accessible for the public, 5 representatives of the company – CEO Maik Reichelt, Business Development Manager Jan Halwe as well as marketing trio Benjamin Reichel, Ramona Meier and Maximilian Graustein – talked to our host André Bernhardt about their innovative studio and, among other topics, gave insight on how to successfully make your way into publishing as an indie developer.

We have the most important Learnings from the talk for you:

    • “Dream big – but plan better.” – Many young studios underestimate their games’ scopes, often causing themselves budget and time issues. Planning ahead with a clear structure is essential!
    • Rethinking publishing. – ByteRockers’ Games offers fair publishing deals, including funding, marketing and access to their community, making them a real alternative to traditional publishers.
    • Creativity for everyone!  At ByteRockers’ Games, everyone is allowed to pitch ideas for games – regardless if they are artists, marketing managers or developers. The best ideas emerge from passion, not hierarchy.
    • Remotely, but connected. –  The studio has implemented a hybrid-working model, focused on  flexibility and team spirit, including game jams, co-working and an open feedback culture.
    • Berlin remains as games hub. – Despite them working remotely, Berlin is an important place for ByteRockers’ Games. Due to fundings, networks, talents and overall vibes, it is still a priority for the studio to be present in the capital.

The whole event can now be rewatched on YouTube.

    Maik Reichelt – CEO

As the CEO of ByteRockers’ Games, Maik leads his teams with optimistic energy and passion for unique projects. With over 15 years of experience in marketing and event management, as well as a background in the film industry, he is always open for new and unconventional ideas and strategies, and encourages his coworkers to push boundaries together. Under the motto “brave, but not naive” he is now paving the way for ByteRockers’ Games’ entrance into the publishing world.

Jan Halwe – Business Development Manager

Jan joined ByteRockers’ Games in 2024 to work closely with the resident marketing team and facilitate new business-to-business partnerships with publishers, platforms, distributors and other companies. His prior games industry experiences span across over a decade of working in publishing as well as investment, where he built up his business development expertise by mostly focusing on and creating publishing deals between publishers and developers, representing either side throughout his career, and ranging from smaller indie titles to large multi-platform massively multiplayer online games.

Benjamin Reichel – Community & Marketing Manager

Benjamin has been working at ByteRockers’ Games since 2021. On his main quest, he has contributed to the release of 4 games, ensuring they reached their audiences in the best possible light. Along the way, his side quests have included organizing the ByteRockers’ attendance at over 20 events and exhibitions, such as gamescom and PAX East.  With a knack for crafting engaging campaigns and building strong communities, Benjamin combines creativity and strategy to level up the visibility and success of ByteRockers’ Games.

    Ramona Meier – Marketing Manager

Ramona graduated with a B.A. in Game Design in 2019, and afterwards entered the game industry as a community manager in live service mobile gaming. With a lifelong passion for game development and indie games, they opened a new chapter in their career by joining ByteRockers’ Games as a Marketing Manager last Juli. They find joy in connecting with communities and players through their work and uplifting other game devs of various backgrounds.

    Maximilian Graustein – Marketing Manager

Starting off first as a Social Media & Community Manager in 2020, Maximilian Graustein developed a passion for marketing games and the games industry as a whole.  After a 2½-year apprenticeship at ByteRockers’ Games, contributing to six released titles and over 20 gaming exhibitions worldwide, he became a full-time Marketing Manager. With now 5 years of experience, he remains committed to crafting impactful marketing strategies, building strong connections between games and their players, and driving the success of indie developers in an ever-evolving industry.
