In November 2018, as a commitment to support AI endeavors, the German government announced its plan to invest €3 billion ($3.4 billion) to boost the Germanys AI capabilities and research over the next six years. Private sector companies are expected to match that number, bringing the total investment to €6 billion ($6.79 billion.) This new AI strategy also includes building 12 AI research and development centers and creating 100 university chairs focused on expanding AI capabilities.
“berlin.digital goes NYC” aims at improving German-U.S. cooperation in the area of artificial intelligence in the digital media, communication, and creative sectors in the capital regions. We are currently planning a one-week trip with about 20 people. Visits to the most important locations and players, matchmaking and a conference are included.

As part of the delegation trip in December 2021, you will have the opportunity to gain deep insights into the New York City AI ecosystem.
- get insights into NYC ecosystem (active institutions, networks, companies)
- discover recent success cases/applications in the industry
- identify fields of learning for the own structural development in Germany and in the European ecosystem
- strengthen trade relations and meet potential joined venture partners
- explore potential fields of cooperation between companies from Berlin and NYC, investigate potential fields for international collaboration on AI driven projects

The members of media:net and those who are interested in the Berlin media and digital economy are invited. (Especially: Decision makers and leaders established companies from the media/IT/telecommunication sector, advertising/marketing agencies, start-ups in the AI field, companies of other sectors interested in AI-applications esp. on the marketing field, academic and research institutions, representatives of the public sector).
